Sales tips: the first sale is always the hardest... yet most important

quick marketing/sales tip: making your first sale to a customer is the most important one, because it’s the start of what’s hopefully a long-term buying relationship… for example when I see a title from generator, since I’ve bought so many, I’m more likely to buy new ones, if they’re unique/well done…

...so making your early product creation choices is important… may try out a lower cost one first to establish rapport, then get them to follow you, or at least pay attention the next time you have something for sale.

it’s all about the long term relationship—fortunes are made not by your first sale, but by the 5th/6th/7th etc sale + custom work addons + whatever else, that results from the first small sale. “from tiny acorns are great oaks made”. so don’t discount small initial sales, as they’re the start of things, that hopefully get you the reputation for being trusted and more likely to be bought from again.

that’s why topsellers sell so much, is their projects are great but also they have the rapport, earned over time, from buyers.

feel free to chime in, any thoughts? just wanted to share a tip for new authors on building your business here at envato, from a top buyers’ perspective

That’s very good advice. And not just for Videohive.

A new client has the potential to be your bread and butter for years to come.
