Hey everyone

It’s probably no surprise that I’m new around here, and after submitting the same theme twice to no avail I thought it might be time to ask for some feedback on what looks like quite an engaging forum!

The work here is immense. Let’s not mess about – some of these themes, I really can’t compete with at my current level. The complexity and customisation is staggering. That said, I believe I have developed a simple, solid offering aimed at a specific niche – photographers.

My theme (found here: http://www.webbymatt.co.uk/themes/impact ) has been rejected twice on the grounds of significant improvements needed to the design. I’m actually quite proud of the design and thought if it were to be rejected, it might be on the lack of options (there are few) or perhaps the lack of plugins (there is one). Still, any ideas for taking this further would be greatly appreciated…

Thanks to all (hope these threads don’t crop up too often!)

Matt

I agree that the design need improvements. The theme now it’s not attractive to me and I wouldn’t buy it. Try to improve the typography and the background images to ones with more quality and more “eye catchy”.

May this is a nice concept but I feel there are to many similar themes for photographers already out there. I hardly find anything unique here but anyway, here are a few suggestions:

Improve the typographie and fonts (as downv said) Integrate a javascript which opens the images in a lightbox instead of linking to the image file The Footer bar is about 10px offset from the bottom border of my browser (chrome). Seems like a simple css bug The custom scroller is not very handy and user friendly. It only takes action on click and only scrolls down 2-3 lines of text. A classic scrollbar would be better

May that helps

Thank you for the responses. I’ve taken a few steps to improvement – added a lightbox, improved the photography on the demo and massively improved the typography. Also improved the scroll functionality and added a breadcrumb trail to the single post page. I also hugely improved my preview graphics. I tried again, still got rejected :S

Very confusing, I’ve see themes on sale which aren’t as good as this. Any more ideas? Thanks

I like the overall concept. I do think you need to re-work the middle section. One thing that bugs me right away is how on the homepage you have the title outside, where as on the other pages the title is inside the black container.

Also pages like your “pricing page” are just blank with a little text. Maybe create some pricing tables here.

Contact page, it’s confusing to have to scroll down to see the send button.

I would remove the blue and keep an image background, as well as have those background images fade in/out automatically.

Good start, but definitely need more content/features.

Don’t worry about rejection. Just think…the more work you put into it and the better the final product is, the more sales 8-)
