Hi, akshaytkd.

I like your travel icons very much. Maybe they felt they had too many similar items in the marketplace. It’s hard to know.

Still, these are very well designed, and I’m sure you’ll be able to use them for a client’s project or even as a portfolio piece.

I signed up for Graphic River recently, and one of my submissions was rejected. So, I used it for client work, and my client was very happy.

I think that since this is a marketplace, the owners are looking for variety. They don’t seem to want too much of one type of design, which I completely understand.

maybe that might have been the problem,

but the email said that the rejection is due to the quality of the item!!

The generic: “Unfortunately this file does not meet GraphicRiver’s strict aesthetic guidelines {...}” Message is used in the majority of cases, sometimes if there’s something specific they give you a note at the bottom. They do this because of the sheer volume of files that they do a great job going through. ;)

In this case I presume it is probably the genericness of the design (a problem a lot of uploads are having at the moment), so maybe come up with some unique awesome designs for GraphicRiver. :)

Your buttons are well-constructed and it’s a shame that they got rejected.

Good luck for future uploads!

Well, it’s basically always someone’s opinion. You can agree or disagree with that person’s opinion, but try not to get too discouraged.

Sometimes, after designing some graphics, I show them to friends and colleagues whose opinion I value and trust. They give me valuable feedback about what they like and/or dislike. Then I can either make improvements or proceed with using the graphics for projects.

If you know some fellow graphic designers, definitely show your work to them. They’ll give you very specific feedback. I did that recently. One of my colleagues, an expert graphic designer who has worked for Gray Advertising and other top ad agencies, looked at my work and gave me feedback that I found very encouraging and motivating.

Well I am a student, pursuing my Bachelors in Computer Application, as per my subjects i have to study most of the languages, there is not much of graphics work involved in my studies. The only Graphics thing that i have studies is of CG in C++ :P.

So most of my classmates are more of a programmer than a graphic person. That’s why I cant depend on their word.. :(

So you’re doing Graphics Programming. :)

At heart that’s what I do, Graphic Design is something I have recently started, as an accompaniment to my Web design, but my main focus is on Graphical C++ programming (mainly using DirectX SDK ), in game develoment.

Nice to see a fellow C++ programmer!

Sorry for the somewhat off-topic post.

The concept is nice, but I think some fairly minor tweaks would really improve the look of these.

A lot of them aren’t centered properly, some more wonky than others. See the hotel and Taj Mahal-type ones.

The drop-shadows are a bit abrupt, maybe try softening those so the indented parts don’t look so harsh.

I’d probably recommend working on the preview image too, presentation is everything and all that. The two larger icons at the top look a bit blurry.

Personally I think those would make a big difference, so hopfully it’s something for you to think about. Good luck :)
