I order my MBP Retina on day 1 this is my first Mac and like @ElliotJackson said I’ll never go back
But to be honest, with retina display you do need second monitor with more normal resolution (I did and I don’t have any problems
for now at least). I think Apple should slow down a bit they going so fast that no one can keep up and that could be a problem in the future
. Anyways enjoy your MBP and create some awesome stuff.

Two more gems that I’d like to add to the list: TextMate, the missing editor for Mac, and Omnigraffle – love working with those! For the rest I second a lot of the ones mentioned above; Cyberduck, Caffeine etc
Here are some of my favourite apps:
- MagicPrefs (personalised multitouch gestures)
- GeekTool (desktop customisation)
- CandyBar (icons and dock customisation)
- 1Password (the name say it all…)
- ClipMenu (clipboard manager)
- xScope (measuring tool)
- Moom (windows management)
- ScreenFlow (screencasting app)
All these apps are a must, especially MagicPrefs and ClipMenu, wich I use all the time!
And I agree with PatrikL : Mac.Appstorm is a great place to find new awesome apps!
Chrome, Sublime Text 2 (text editor), Transmit (awesome FTP ), Gradient (CSS3 gradients), CS6 , Twitter for Mac (until TweetBot for Mac comes out), Reeder (RSS reader), Wunderlist, Sparrow (e-mail), Skype, CloudApp, Dropbox, Google Drive, Moom (good window resize solution), RightZoom (clicking maximize actually maximizes), LittleIpsum (lorem ipsum text in the menu bar), smcFanControl (check computer temperature and set fan speed), The Unarchiver (perfect unarchiving solution… the system unarchiver doesn’t do some file extensions), VLC (media player that plays all video extensions), TotalFinder (much better Finder solution), TinkerTool (lots of hidden settings for your Mac), and Screeny (video recording tool).

Hey everyone,My MacBook Pro Retina arrived yesterday!
What programs / apps do you suggest I get for a nice smooth work flow?
I still have a few more tools to add to it since I’ve updated it, but you’ll have a complete list to be fine with. Welcome to the Apple world!
