and of course people from some other countries may expect to get a custom 30second animation done for less than a few hundred dollars, and 1k is seen as “wow a fortune”... lol.

I went to one freelance site for fun. The guy is asking someone to make 3-4 animation and his budget is $80. That wouldn’t be so weird if there wasn’t like a 10+ bids :)

He’ll get what he pays for.

Assuming 10 day’s work… there are not too many places in the world where skilled workers with their own equipment will work for $8 a day.

I am registered in one freelance site like this. And i am shoking about prices on it. Some projects budget is 10$ – 30$. Why designers so stupid ? they do not appreciate his work.

I’d love to see what $10 worth of motion graphics looks like.

It doesn’t have to be bad. That’s the boon and bane of the Internet. Imagine that there are some parts of the world where living costs are much lower than in Europe or Noth America. Like India or Thailand. That means you can charge a lot less and still make a good living. We always say quality has its price and this is partly true but anyone won’t deny that skilled designers are everywhere. Even in undercut countries. In fact if I remember correctly the second guy who earned 1 million dollars here on Envato was from Thailand.

I got an e-mail once from a guy who wanted me to customize a 3 minutes template. His budget was 30 dollars. I turned the job down because I knew I would take more than 1 hour to get it done. He said to me “if you are not willing do it I’m going to ask someone on fiverr”. I’m sure he did and I’m sure he did find someone who got the job done well.

Videohive gives a false impression about the motion design work because all the stuff here is very underpriced. If you look at other marketplaces the prices are higher at the same commission rate. I know this bceause I’m writing an article about the different marketplaces right now. I’m not sure about the general traffic though but the article got me thinking. So I wonder if I should move to another marketplace or at least drop out of the exclusive contract.

I live in a country where the average salary is barely more than $ 350. I just started doing projects for Envato and already now on this service earn more than on the main job.
