It’s not a new feature, actually in the old design you could browse all the previous featured files and authors and now only featured files of last 6 months and only 6 last featured authors can be viewed.
Edit: I thought you were talking about the featured authors + featured files page

no but I hadn’t noticed the list of featured authors down the right, nice one for pointing that out I thought it was top selling authors
