So I purchased and downloaded an AE Project file. The file will not open though as it is a Windows 64 version and I am on a mac. There was no indication of this when I looked in the “Specifications” Section only that it “Works with After effects CS4 and higher versions” which I have.
I’m out $15 and would like a refund or a mac version as I feel that this was not made apparent to me.
Any idea on who I can speak to about a refund or a mac version?
Thanks!

Hi MLDarlington, can you provide more details, what did you purchase? Did you try to contact author?

Thanks for the quick response! I purchased “the-universe” http://videohive.net/item/the-universe/2375295?WT.ac=search_item&WT.seg_1=search_item&WT.z_author=edum
I haven’t tried the author since I’m not sure who’s “issue” it is.
what After effects says when you open the project file on your Mac?

It would be great if someone have OPEN SESAME script, to help you converting CS5 to CS4 .
After Effects projects are universal for all platforms. When After Effects open project made on other OS, it displays message that it’s made on some OS and it needs to be converted to your OS version. Something like that. But it converts that project automatically and then opens it like it should. I also work on both Windows and Mac, and that how it is. Can you describe what happens or whats the error message?

This is exactly the error message: After Effects error: The file you are attempting to open was created with After Effects version 10.5 (Windows 64) and cannot be opened with this version. See www.adobe.com/aftereffects for information on upgrading your software.

I don’t see such a thing in the description. It was created in CS5 .5 (which is 10.5 version) and it is compatible with CS5 and above. Looks like you have only CS4 .
@DoubleX said it
its not a win mac issue just an after effects version issue
