New Community Manager

Hi Everybody,

For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Jordan and I’ve been managing the Envato Support department for the last 10 months. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time in Support, and will continue in this role as I undertake a new & exciting challenge. I’ve recently taken over from the fantastic Adrien (ADG3studios), as your new Community Manager.

I’m so thrilled to have the opportunity to help shape the future of this amazing community of talented individuals and am really looking forward to introducing some new community-centric features which I think you’ll all love.

As your new Community Manager, I will be around to help you out if & when needed. If you want to contact me about an issue that you feel can’t be resolved by Support or by yourself then I’m only an email away (contact me via my profile contact box). I have learned the ins and outs of Envato, the Marketplaces, as well as developing an understanding of your concerns and the issues that face the Marketplace and its users thanks to my time as Support Manager. I hope to bring this experience across to the Community Manager role.

We’ve planned some fairly exciting new community-centric features that I think you’ll all love. We’re planning on releasing these in the near future – but to give you an idea of what we’re thinking take a look below…

• Volunteer Moderators
• New forum user classes & a recognition program for helpful and outstanding members that display the right kind of attitudes
• More community interaction between Envato staff and members
• Providing different methods for the community to interact (think Envato game tournaments :-D)
• Community newsletter & other media
• Regular mini-competitions on the forums

And this is just the beginning!

We want to make the forums an exciting, positive place for everyone to visit and we want you to enjoy yourselves when here, I intend on doing the best I can to help achieve that goal. The Envato Marketplace community which currently stands at almost 350,000 people, is an amazing and diverse group of talented & intelligent individuals, which I feel honoured to be a part of – you should be too.

I’m really looking forward to taking on this additional responsibility and consider myself very lucky to be able to help you guys and to help develop the kind of community we all want to be a part of.

what about creating a mini-social media site like news.ycombinator.com where we can share links and discuss things we discover on the internet?
