C’mon guys, can’t you see the difference? it’s black & white!!
I agree the one that got accepted today is very slick and well excecuted, but like others have said, its version number 1000 of same idea/concept.
What I find funny is that many of these extruded logos (and other ideas that are… um… borrowed) are so well done that one can clearly see that the author must have some very solid After Effects knowledge and skills – but why not use those same skills to come up with something fresh?
SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT !
Hello together! Sorry for creating so much trouble here! I’m very sad at the moment but i have to fight for my new file. I’m not a copycat. I didn’t know there is a list with projects, which are not allowed.
Of course it is a 3D extruded logo with a flyover, but i think the look is new to vh. I’ve tried to create an ambient occlusion look like you know it from 3D apps. Nobody did this before on vh. The whole reflections are created with vegas. Many people never use this plugin before. The next important point is the render-time. My file does not need more than 2 hours for rendering. (Others here do!). I didn’t use the cam dof and i build this with no ligths. This speeds up the render-time. So these are the points, why my file is something new.
I think there should be no problem with 3D extruded files. I work for a big postproduction company. All my clients love 3D extruded logos. This is the only thing all of them want every day. I’ve created so many of these files with max and cinema. But never before with ae.
The way some users post comments is not fair.
MotionRevolver. You have started this Thread. So everybody is involved. But your file is awesome. I think you should’t be afraid. Your projects are great.
dorde – please check out how many 3D extruded projects you have and then think again about your comment.
felt_tips. You are one of the best here. I love your files. Last week there was also an 3D extruded file from you. Nobody criticise this. (OK – there is no flyover, but it is in the same categroy)
sonorafilms – you can’t see the difference. Please check it again. Think about the way i’ve did this and try to find out how much love i’ve put into the look and the cam pans.
There are billions of T-Shirts in the world. Some of them are good and some are bad. But nobody has the idea to stop the production of them.
If my new file is such a big problem and not welcome here. I can delete it!

No, don’t do that. It’s approved, and now nobody can force you to delete project.
I hope that you didnt take all critics personally. It’s not about you personally, it’s about rules about that kind of animations, and no matter who is the author.
After discussion with staff, summary is that 3d logo wasnt problem with my rejected item. Problem is 3d logo + way of camera movements…
p.s. 3d stuffs in after effects are more than welcome here
i admit it looks great …. just as good as the one i tried to post two days ago. I didn’t get to upset when it was rejected … The reason that i was given doesn’t make much sense now after looking at this project … really don’t know what to think …

@Maupa. I’m not suggesting for a moment that your file be deleted… and this argument isn’t actually about you. Your file is good, obviously has a lot of attention to detail and I hope it sells well. Don’t delete it whatever you do!
But the bigger point is, that it fits the description almost to the letter that Brian gave above of why a similar file was rejected. The only thing we can assume is that the quality of your file was higher, but these files are supposedly being rejected not on grounds of quality, but because of the type of file they are. It’s a question of consistency at the end of the day.
You’re quite right about 3D extrudedness. Anyone who uses a 3D app doesn’t stop to question whether a logo should be extruded or not… of course it should. On Videohive, these things are perennial top sellers…. especially the simple ones. Maybe the explanation should be changed that simple logo extrudes will probably be rejected unless they display an exceptional level of quality / realism / technical competence etc.

Incidentally, you aren’t the first to do ambient occlusion in AE on Videohive. My Short Sharp Shock, Friendly and Light Sweep Logo all use fake ambient occlusion (the letters occlude themselves) and self-shading that responds dynamically to light position to increase the sense of realism.
awesome avatar, by the way.

If you made a title sequence with those extruding techniques you would kill em..and certainly would be above the average bar. The price would be higher.. you could save yourself some forum chat and certainly energy to explain why is the file different. Imho the client doesnt really care how you did it.. he/she cares how (different, new) it looks. Sure, render time is bonus but it will not compensate if the file is almost 1:1 copy..(which I am not saying it is.) I almost never create such reveals.. If I have a great text effect idea I incorporate it into a bigger project and the result is always better. On the other hand.. I am almost never right so do as you think is best

Just kidding Maupa
we were discusing videohive’s policy regarding similar files and your project happened to be on the homepage. I think it’s logical for authors to upload extruded logos since there’s big a demand for such files, for me the problem is VH’s policy, not your project.
...all in all…. this project have good sales:)
