Before teaming up with a developer, I think you need to learn what makes a theme coherent and practice that in your work. You might want to look at the article How C.R.A.P is Your Site Design? or a similar one.

Some good bits of advice, though the post itself is —CRAP—. It’s also important to note that the article was written 2006, that’s decades in the Web Design.

Definitely, thank you for the correction. I was referring mainly to the CRAP principle itself, rather than to the specific examples given in the article.

I think before you get into the WP stuff you should maybe create a few html 5 templates without the back end to kinda hone your design skills. The PSD category is hard to get into and the wp your stuff has to be top notch for you to get your designs approved. Html is still somewhat easy or easier. Cheers
