Hi people!
My intention is to follow up some of the previous threads complaining about the “poisonous” comments and behavior of some FD authors. Well… I’m not here to accuse people, I’m opening this thread in a desperate attempt to look for a solution, once and for all, to the increasing proofs of unfair behavior.
Although I think it’s highly unlikely that there is a “magic” formula for stopping bad words and bad behavior to appear on FD, I truly believe we can all make a difference if we really want to.
Ok, so here’s what I’m talking about: firstly, there are some people who use to post comments about their files, using the item forum of another author. The so-called self-advertising thing is a bad practice and should be avoided.
Secondly, there are some other authors who are continuously searching for such self-advertising behavior , and make an excuse out of it to use a not so nice language. In my opinion, that’s another no go.
The use of the term “pathetic” directed to RJFlash in this particular case is at least insulting. This kind of language is not only inappropriate, but highly offensive and may hurt people’s feelings. I definitely agree that advertising your more or less similar file using other author’s file forum is not a good thing (actually I was accused myself for doing that, even if my intention was so far from self-advertising, and I’ll prove this to anyone that have their doubts). Yes, self-advertising is a very bad thing and it deserves and should be punished, but it’s still by all means no excuse for anyone to offend other people. Or am I missing something here? Come on, people, we are all human beings with our feelings and … mistakes, we are a community here on FD, we should help each other so we can all benefit from this, there’s no need for us to hate each other. Let’s rather make FD a better place.
As a conclusion, my friend flasher3015 , as they say “It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice”. Think about this for a moment before being hard on someone else.
really very little good comes of these threads, especially if you start linking to files and naming authors. FD are working on a better system so until then:

Chuck, I’m afraid you’re right. I wish I could’ve found another way. However, I really hope the file forums system becomes better.
