from a buyers’ standpoint (and I bought elements 3d, and buy a lot of templates), I’d expect that really Good templates that use elements 3d would require the buyer to have bought elements 3d anyways, to modify the template to produce a professional render…
because for example if you do a logo stinger, with text logo in 3d words with letters that move or whatever, you’d need to not have prerenders and use the plugin anyways, by modifying your text in the template, which would need element 3d installed to be able to render unique 3d words anyways…
the real power of elements 3d is being able to especially do custom text 3d stuff, which you can’t do via prerender since customers need to use their own text for company name etc, which means you need to have bought elements 3d. cmon it’s only 149, its’ not like it’s a $499 plugin, it’s affordable, and really cool.. .buyers should buy elements 3d and elite authors, I hope to see cs4 compatible elements 3d type templates available, I’m waiting to buy some here…

Ken, inevitably we are all migrating to the 64bit AE CS5 and above. Wonder how much you could hold on
I’m guessing those buying Element would love to enjoy its full potential in the latest versions of AE.. as they are faster. A true warrior you are!

I think you had a point with CS4 a couple of years ago, but I’m working in CS6 now (and at about three times the speed). I’ll be using the native back save to produce a CS5 .5 and CS5 version (in about 1 minute instead of the 2 days versioning and render testing I used to spend for CS3 and CS4 ). No more CS4 for me, I’m afraid. On the positive side, CS6 will allow me to produce everything in full HD now, regardless of how complex.
To echo your own words, Ken. C’mon the upgrade’s only $200… it’s not like it’s an upgrade to C4D (i.e. $1000). CS6 is also affordable and really cool.
good point, it’s on my list to upgrade past cs4, as I do more and more motion gfx stuff in my biz the time /speed increase makes it worth looking at getting into cs5/6… and then also getting a ssd for even faster speed; they’re a lot more economical now, ssd’s eg at newegg.com .
the new element 3d plugin looks like it can basically help all you 3d guys who are c4d types do a lot more in one single app, within ae, which has got to help w/workflows. I’d like to see some killer broadcast news style openers done in element 3d, would probably sell well. it’s neat to see all this new stuff available to help us get such great graphics produced on home computers… a long ways from the commdore 64 I grew up with.

CS6 and an SSD in combination is a killer. Super speed and persistent cache too. Close down Ae, close down your computer, come back the next day and your RAM preview’s still there. You won’t look back.
Never had a Commodore 64. Had a Sinclair ZX81 though. That was c**p, even at the time. It had a whole 1K of RAM . And then a Dragon 32…

Those were the days, when the whole family used to gather round the computer to play chess on a crummy 11” portable TV. Actually, the family split up 1 year after the photo was taken, when father went insane after trying to learn to program in Basic.
Yep we’ve come along way. (Actually, we’ve come quite a long way since CS4 too, y’know!
