(Locked) How to Achieve a Successful Portfolio in Envato

Michaelhejja, I checked your profile and saw that your last approved file in ActiveDen was 13 January 10. There is a new policy now in Envato. Files approved sometime ago maybe denied this time. Envato Inspection Team is following a rigid inspection process and many files are being denied these days from different authors. Only high quality and complex files are approved.

Hey there, mrcharlesbrown, did you also notice that I still make more money off of one 2 year old file than you do from all of your graphics combined? How’s that for high quality?

Getting approved is not hard, and it’s not some sort of achievement now or ever. It’s good that you made a thousand something dollars, great job, but you’re not at the level yet to be writing “how to build successful portfolio” posts. When you’ve made $50,000 net profit on one file, then maybe we’ll talk.

The problem with your suggestions is that the only thing you are focused on is making money. You put all of your efforts into finding out what is already making money, what other people think, pleasing the Envato reviewers, etc… when you should be focusing on making really cool, useful stuff that nobody has even thought of. You’re a follower, and your advice is the advice of a follower. You’ll make a decent living, but the huge successes will go to the innovators, not the followers.

Take it easy guys, no need to get personal or snarky with each other. Charles is simply sharing his tips and opinions with the community, you’re free to do the same Michael. What works for some may not work for others and vice versa, “there is more than one way to skin a cat”

haha… Michaelhejja, I have produced a good number of highly useful graphic and web design DVDs that are in amazons.com. I joined Envato in July 2011 and because I have been busy I decided to start uploading on 30th Oct 2011 and in 1 month and 2 weeks I have made 391 Sales and still selling very fast. You have been a member for 3 to 4 years. I assure you that before 3 to 4 years, my items will procure more than what you have made by God’s grace. I upload new items when I’m off-peak from my published DVDs.

Like I said, this vital post is for everybody, whether old or new member. It will help a good number of serious-minded authors. In addition, this post delivers an honest inspection procedure that Envato is following now. It is a good thing that I have studied this community and know how it works. Use the word “inventors” instead of innovators (i.e. modifiers, which is wrong from your own point of view). Finally, it is good to invent new items with great concept that are useful to the buyers
