Since this marketplace is not using ‘https’ method. Wondering that if ‘Hotspor Shield’ will really help with this?

Will it be more secure using this app? As they advertise, they will make all site as ‘https’....

Just need some thought from you :) Thanks!

EDIT : sorry for mistaken in the title. It was ‘Hotspot’ not ‘Hotspor’....

umm, Its hard to say.

Key:
= Is Secure
- Is Unsecure

Https allows a secure connections between [User] ======= [Web Server]
but Hotspot (VPN) is a secure connection between [User] ======= [VPN] -- [Web Server]
Without a VPN and using http [User] --- [Web Server]

Basically VPN is good if someone is tying to sniff what your doing on your side but you need to trust your info with Hotspot or your VPN provider because they will see all your info clear..

let me know if that make sense.

Is Hotspot Shield secure to begin with? I remember installing it once and it was constantly exchanging data even when I wasn’t surfing. Uninstalled, formatted pc and I don’t trust it to be honest.

bs. They are just selling a vpn, only encrypted from you to them. It would be like accessing your account from their server instead of your pc and still using http

Hotspot shield does what its name says: shield you when you’re using an unsafe hotspot. That’s because when you’re on a public hotspot, all your traffic with the access point is unencrypted and can be sniffed out of thin air by anyone near. It’s not much use in other situations, though!

As long as you’re on your personal (WPA2-encrypted) home network, hotspot shield serves no purpose whatsoever. The traffic to your access point is secure, but from your router to the rest of the internet it’s unencrypted. With HS, it would be encrypted until their servers and unsafe afterwards.

So: it serves a purpose at Starbucks, it doesn’t serve any use at home (assuming you set up your network properly)
