Even though they are really large I find godaddy quite good. They have an incredibly nice UI they are very cheap price wise and there isn’t any kind of technology that you can’t use there. Database availability and all the extra bells and whistles are at your fingertips. Adminstration panel installs of Joomla, WP etc. etc.

Honestly i tend to go with the smaller companies, i find the support is much much better..i’d recommend www.tmzhosting.com
I use bluehost and I have had a few little problems here and there but for the price you get pretty much unlimited everything and it supports every damn thing. RoR, latest php etc. Bluehost also uses ‘SimpleScripts’ which allows you to install popular things like wordpress in a few clicks.
Any time i have needed support its quick and live chat which is MUCH better than back and forth email. I reccommend it
