Let’s go through the question once again

The actual price of the shoe is $15 ( maths doesn’t care about the profits she could have made )

Customer handed $50, She got the change from her neighbor and handed $29 to the Customer

But as we all know the money was counterfeit…

Total profit to the Customer = $15 + $29 = $44

Total money Helen lost = $15 + $29 + ($50 – $21) = $15 + $29 + $29 = $73

(she still has $21 from the $50 change she got from her neighbor)

Total money she lost = $73

And if you add her wages, then it’s $79

If only we could have a really really simple, OFFICIAL answer to this, we wouldn’t be melting our brains around this anymore! Seriously!

It’s not official ,but I ‘m agree with felt_tips

felt_tips is right

44 or 50 (if cost time)

solution 1 : she sold shoes ,but damn it, she got false money ,so she lose $50

solution 2 : the customer bought her shoes with a stream of air (or a pile of shit) , she gave customer $29 + a pair of shoes =$44 + cost time $6 =$50 , that means she handed over $29 and a pair of shoes for nothing .

It’s not magic anymore ;)

I feel I’m an idot :p

Sorry guys :D

And I hope Helen can spend her false $50 on somewhere ;)

How do you make a $73 dollar loss out of a single fake $50 bill? The maximum loss in the whole system is $50. You should work in an investment bank.

Who will pay the $15 (price of shoe).. And maths is not supposed to make sense.

Anyways let’s say you gave me $100 and i got it changed from FlashTang and gave $100 to you back, but it was counterfeit , Now i have to pay $100 to FlashTang as well…

So total money i lost is $100 (i gave to you) + $100 (which i have to give to FlashTang) i..e $200 not just $100…

@xstortionist I taught you killed him… :ohrly:

Helen loose $44.

Let’s tweet the question for simplicity suppose neighbor gave $29 to Helen to give for customer . That money Helen gave to customer. Till now Helen have to give $29 to neighbor..And Helen has counterfeit money $50 but that money is worthless.. So total loss is $29 +$15 ( Cost price of shoes ) = $44

I don’t really get this, How can $50 be worthless even if it’s counterfeit? The customer got the change for that right?

And according to the question The neighbor is asking for $50 not $21..

And at the end of the day, There can/will be only one right answer, all other wrong….....

@xstortionist I get it now, Nobody killed the butler, He was never there.., The truth is you killed An Author… yes an Envato author and made him look like a Butler….. You can hide but you can’t escape or maybe you can… sci-fi is not really my thing.

Flawed logic. You seem to have forgotten about the $100 in small notes that FlashTang gave to you in exchange.
