HELP WITH AEP's all turning into PSD's!!!!!

I was working on after effects, I got a bad virus I had to shut down my computer, and well long story short, I got a new harddrive and accesed my old one where all my files were at.

Now EVERY SINGLE .aep files have turned into .psd ’s. Every last one, even the ones I backed up on my hard drive have turned into .aep’s

The files open, but all my after effecting I did to the, the effects, the movements, the frames, etc. are all gone.

That’s MONTHS OF WORK LOST . Any help, please!

Edit to add I tried chaining the file extensions, that was a no go.

Fixed my typos, sorry I’ve so upset right now.

It may be just the file associations that have become messed up. Have you tried right clicking on the file and choosing Open with… and then selecting After Effects?

Yes I did exactly that, they are PSD ’s so when I open the file it has none of my animations or effects, I have nothing but my layers, and everything in the right spot. The sounds are missing, you don’t even see the mp3’s on any of the aep projects that got turned into PSDs.

A little info to help, the new hard drive has a new OS installed into it, the only hard drive is now showing as volume G.
