There are certain file types that we have a ton of on AD, especially things like simple preloaders and globes. There’s nothing wrong with these files and it’s always good to have options, but we’ve reached the point on some where it’s just cluttering up the library (and the homepage). That’s why we just created the “files we do and don’t need” wiki page: http://wiki.envato.com/selling/tips-selling/activeden-files-we-do-and-dont-need/

It’s just what it sounds like – a list of files that we really need and a list of those we already have plenty of.

Does this mean reviewers will never accept another carousel or preloader again? Of course not, but if you do want to upload one, it’ll need to bring something new to the table or be really nice looking. Here are a few files that would still be accepted:

For now this is just a suggestion, but will officially take effect on the 27th of this month. That will give those who’ve already started files time to get them up.

Though it might be tough for newer authors, this is a great change that’ll make sure our library grows in a unique way and keeps buyers coming back!

I thought about this before. There are too many SAME concept items on AD. This is also helping A LOT of authors when you think about it. For example: a customer searches for a circle preloader, he doesn’t get 20 SAME CONCEPT items from DIFFERENT AUTHORS . Some authors don’t get good sales because of that and it is very messy. This is a great idea and will probably make authors more creative and cause better sales for everyone. AWESOME !
