Hi guys,
I just have a quick question: are editorial videos allowed on VideoHive? As far as I know they are not, but I’ve seen many timelapses shot in big cities with recognizable brand names and landmarks!
Can someone kindly explain me how this works because I’ve lots of editorial footage that I would be keen to upload here!
Thanks to everyone!
Ricky

there is no “editorial use” license, so I probably the type of videos you want to upload are not allowed.
that’s what I thought but then I saw some videos here on VideoHive with a lot of sales too! I have a lot of urban footage with landmarks and clearly visible advertisment in the streets that I never uploaded but it seems that they are allowed!
try to serch for Opera House or Time Square, you’ll see many videos with advertisment in it!
I really need to know if I can upload this kind of material!

I think urban footage can be considered stock video. By “editorial” I’m thinking more at “Obama meet some dude in a restaurant” or “Cop save a kitten from a tree” type of videos.
The presence of advertisement on the street is not an issue in my opinion. Is on the street, on public space is part of the landscape. But you need to be careful about certain buildings.
Since you are from Italy we can speak about Colosseum. I don’t know the details but it appears the state sold (or intend) exclusive image rights to some rich dude. Question is, one can sell video or images with this structure now or he needs to get approval first?
that sounds like a good news! =) I’m not really sure what’s going on with coliseum, I’m from Italy but I live in South East Asia since a while already!
Anyway I have some footage of Kuala Lumpur twin Towers and Singapore Marina Bay Sands + various skylines with Hotel names…you think it can be alright?

unfortunately I don’t know the answer for your specific case
Thank you anyway for your info
I’ll try to submit a video and I’ll let you know the result!
Hi rickyloca,
This article may have partial answer for your questions (editorial vs. commercial, property relase, etc): http://support.envato.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/196/65/when-do-i-need-a-model-or-property-release
On the other hand it looks like reviewers don’t follow or don’t know about this guidline
since I seen many of it here like hollywood sign, opera house etc. which require property release.
For advertisement I quess it is OK (at least if it is not major or big part of the image ).
Best Regards, Andrey
Hello everyone!
Good news, my file has been accepted so we are allowed to show landmarks and advertisment!
