Construction kits/Loop packs: will AJ expand into that marketplace anytime?

Lately I’ve been buying a ton of “loop” packs (priced $8 to $34, for 5-8 construction kits of dozens of .wav files), to use in Acid, from the various loop royalty free vendors. Any chance envato will get into this well-developed, popular high-selling audio marketplace niche anytime next year or beyond? They come in well-done formats for dance, trance, r&b, hip hop, dubstep and other genres.

I like construction kits/loops, because they include up to 100 various separate acidized loops that I can use easily in Acid (or any other audio workstation that will play .wavs etc), to customize soundtracks.

It’s a subniche of royalty free audio, there’s many loop producers in the various sites out there, just thought I’d ask. They give more flexibility than just static downloadable single compiled mp3/wav rf audio files.

I think it depends on the musicians and not envato even though they could encourage it. Each author is able to produce such construction kits, so if there is a demand which it most certainly is, there’s certainly an interest here to create sample kits in the future. Perhaps the biggest problem with construction kits, however, is that many samples are re-used with only small changes which perhaps could infringe on copyright.

I would actually love to supply construction kits for buyers – but as ‘tiam’ points out, a lot of the items sold on Audiojungle – if they were separated into ‘stems’, many of the drum tracks are just loops taken from an existing library (Stylus RMX ). And then you have a drum stem which is just directly ripped from another library, which is illegal.

If however, those loops were layered with other drums, then the copyright issue could be avoided.

On those construction kit websites which you have brought up before, there is all kinds of copyright infringement going on (I recognise a lot of the sounds used in them that come from libraries that every composer owns). I wonder how they get around it. Careful layering of instruments perhaps. I don’t know!

Anyway, I think that’s why Envato haven’t ventured into that marketplace. It would also be a LOT of work for reviewers because the ramifications for releasing something that potentially infringes copyright is far greater.

Anyway, I don’t think you’ll get any opposition from authors on this, but perhaps an Envato / Audiojungle member of staff could clarify this.

I agree with Gareth, it would be impossible for the review team to police this and make sure theres no copyright infringement going on by using dry out of the box loops. (Somebody could post every single loop in stylus rmx and easily get tons of sales) I dont think the devs would be very happy about that.

I like the fact that AJ already polices generic loop based songs and doesn’t allow them, It adds a uniqueness to the marketplace and usually assures the buyer they are getting something well worth their money. (Even though a few loop based songs slip past the radar)

thanks – that’s good to know, re copyright type issues. the construction kits for loop sets are useful because everything’s separated out, allowing to make your own customized mix in Acid, and they come with midi files too… probably completely different buyers for each type, eg ready-to-go rf complete tracks, vs construction kit loops, likely only a few of us audio nuts who like to buy both types… :) thanks for the posts, makes sense. wasnt aware any of the construction kit loop pack sites had copyright infringement, that’s good to know, thanks

How about “Source Files” category in AJ ? Maybe some encouragement towards authors to publish more things there ?
