There has been a lot of talk about Element and its licensing just lately. It’s much desired, because it’s cheap, it’s fast, it brings good looking 3D to After Effects.
Downside? The licensing doesn’t allow pre-renders for stock projects.
So how about Blender as an After Effects plug-in? Why can’t we offer projects, a bit like the 3D hybrid projects, but using Blender… maybe in a way that is more like an Ae plug-in than a file centrally based around Blender.
Downside? It’s not fast. It’s a bit technical (like most 3D). It doesn’t actually work inside After Effects (i.e. it’s not actually a plug-in, but a fully-fledged standalone app.)
Would these projects be popular? Do they belong in the Ae section or the C4D section?
Thoughts?

I’m not using blender, but idea is great and it should be considered. Why not?
Popular projects are good projects, no matter which plugin(s) and/or software(s) are used.
I’m not sure about category, but I’ll be happy so see section 3d projects (or something like that), with subcategories: blender, cinema4d, max, maya etc…
If not here, maybe on 3docean? There are only static objects on marketplace, not animations
I think VC show’s how 3d may being integrated in AE. And other companies must produce something like that. E3D is good because it’s fast and looks great. Real raytrace dont realy need in most motion graphics projects and VC is first who understand and realize it (fake reflections, AO, OGL , etc…). The best thing is produce Plugin for Cinema 4D (because it’s better for motion graphics) for make renders fast, like in E3D . Or some bridge between AE and C4D .
Yeah, great idea!
It amazes me that we rarely talk about Blender here.
Sometimes, people have a negative opinion of Blender for commercial use.
While it has an export to AE. A powerful rendering engine (cycles) integrated. Several render farms online. I love Blender and I only use it for 3D since I discovered it.
I don’t know if buyers are interested to have the .blend file of a project, but it’s interesting to try.
I’m using 3DS Max, never used Blender before. Is it anyway similar or is it much easier and user friendly? Just don’t have the time yet to learn it.

Blender’s not especially user friendly and doesn’t work quite like other 3D apps. But if you know the fundamentals of 3D, then it shouldn’t take you too long to work out where the buttons are.
