No need to buy. Just download and use the watermarked audio preview and, as you say, link back
Every videohive author can use the watermark version of a AJ track for free. But for the sympathy you must contact the author of the track with the question or you can use his track.

Not-so-new thread, but I thought further explanation would be ok.
You don’t actually HAVE to contact AJ author, because most (if not all) AJ authors are more than happy to collaborate with VH authors. Contacting and letting know AJ author that you’re going to use his/her track is good because AJ author can promote your VH project on his/her profile page, and that is a win-win situation for everyone. Not to mention that most AJ authors have YouTube and Vimeo channels, so you get your work promoted there too
. Hope this helps, cheers!

Good practice to get in touch with the author first. I don’t think many AJ authors will have much of a problem if you give their audio some free promotion!
Also, don’t forget to credit the author in the preview or description – or both.

I totally forgot about crediting the author, my bad….thanks for chiming in and reminding us on unwritten rules and good practice
.
You don’t need to contact the author (but you can if you want) to use any preview you like. Creadits and link are needed.
Check this guide http://notes.envato.com/authors/watermarked-previews/

^ Rather sadly, people are using AJ tracks and _not crediting, which is a bit sad.

That s not really smart for them. If someone (buyer) likes the music and he/she wants to use it in the project where will he find it?
AndrVlad saidContacting the author should be an unwritten rule IMO . It’s like getting a girls number through your buddy and she doesnt know. Not cool lol.
