Personally, i think associative cross market products in search results should be polled within these results. So cc search for xyz should dispay other products from other markets. Also, members that bought this also bought xyz… Etc.

As a regular buyer of WP themes (more than 80% of my purchases) I think this is a great idea (cross market promotion). I won’t mind picking up a plug-in or script, icon set, stock image or any relevant web design item with my left over credit. That Wordpress plug-in link on the theme listing page doesn’t compel me to take a browse.

If I’m not compelled to browse there’s less of a chance something will catch my eye that I’ll at least bookmark. The original poster mymatch is correct and not only from a new user perspective but for the development of the other marketplaces as a whole. Now that SportTipsWorld mentions it, I think it’s a travesty that such cross promotion isn’t a standard practice when so much is inter-connected. I have bought plug-ins, scripts, and stock images but only when I needed to. The more Envato keeps ‘career buyers’ like me engaged across marketplaces ensures the business is kept here.

Just off the top of my head while I’m writing this, just as there’s the side bar link for the WP plug-ins there could be a link to an icon set, plug-in etc. Alternatively, perhaps some kind of ‘bundling’ with a theme (logistics to be worked out), of graphics, icons, stock images etc.

Yupp.

A “have you considred this”

array to, possibly displaying other items from author or simialr items.

Theres gazillions of possibilities, its just weird that each marketplace is utterly segragated from the next..its as if Envato just dont quite get the importance of it all.

The cross market-search or suggestion system does indeed sound like a good idea :)

I have to agree. For example imagine a designer is purchasing a video template, lets say there are some songs that are displayed to go with it. Just as the others mentioned plugins with wordpress themes. Imagine this with the entire marketplace. It could easily boost sales, and could help keep money in the marketplaces. I think this can benefit new authors, veteran authors, and Envato as a whole! It is definitely a good idea. Wish it could happen soon! :/

Graphic river your items can be on the home page for a matter of hours, envato does not have to help people, i have seen new authors come and get high sales very quickly, it all about the item upload, if you item is good enough it will sell in high quantities.

Hey mymatch,

welcome to the Forums!

First off, I just want to point out that you’ve sold $1,000 worth of items in your first month here. On Graphicriver, selling that much tends to take far longer.

Now, one of the reasons more established Authors tend to generate large amounts of sales on new items very quickly is because they are just that, established. They have been here long enough to build up a following of buyers who like their products and follow them to see what is next.

Secondly, a lot of established Authors have built up their outside-Envato means of promoting their items with affiliate sites, social networking etc – so when something new is put on sale, they have various places to promote said item straight away.

Also, these established Authors have lots of items on sale, so there is more chance their items are showing up in search results (for a range of keywords) which will drive buyers to their portfolio and find something they want to buy.

So, fear not, your item isn’t failing or you as an author are not getting a rough deal, these things just take time. The best thing you can do is keep adding items to your portfolio with consistent quality, advertise your items outside of Envato and keep your customers happy.

If you build a portfolio of similar items and keep those buyers happy, the chances are those 20 buyers you have now, will become 20 buyers for your next item, and so on.

Keep on keepin’ on dude!
