I’ve noticed that many authors here pay attention to only micro- visual hierarchy. As a result the formatting of a given “area” looks fine, but the combination of all “areas” suffers from usability problems.
Hope that will make sense to anyone. 
Have you noticed any mass problem in themes? Feel free to add any quick advices here (but please obey the forum rules and don’t attack specific themes/authors).
quick way to do this is to vary the content in the eareas on the page, double the content of areas, then perhap half it, make a longer logo line, etc
see if these break the design, if they do, then the design is not that adaptable in my eyes.
do extra menu items blow up the design or does the design handle them? not everything in the real world is as neatly arranged as the content is for the themes on sale. these designs seem to depend on everything being the right size and this is not always the case when you use a theme.
