Sure, since that’s the point of QrCode. QrCodes are made to be read by mobile phones. If your mobile phones doesn’t have one, you can download kaywa QrCode Reader (Java).

I’ll give you an example: Qrcode in the street, read it to get the street name. Another Cool example is an app for android that create Qrcode for each app. If you want to install an app that is already installed in your friend phone, just scan the qrcode ;)

Lot of usability, Qrcode are also known to store more information that the usual barcode.

There are two things to consider:

1- If there is something that the browser can read, then humans should be able to read it too.

2- People who are not ready to pay for the script/theme, won’t pay even if you obfuscate, encode or do whatever to it. Pirates will upload it and people will download it via uTorrent or any other torrent client.

How many people are using pirated version of Adobe Photoshop, Windows or Office? A lot! Many! Yet, so Many!! But Microsoft, Adobe or any other company are still running, not affected.

In my opinion, we are already doing a great job protecting our themes/scripts (that’s why you won’t find them easily on the web). I’m making sales with my JavaScript Script, although it’s not encoded or obfuscated. There are some people out there that consider your work and value your time, there are other people that don’t and won’t! So let’s not waste the time about them.

(In case Code Canyon is going to start encrypting source files, I which that you compare the conversion rate before and after, so we can see if it really made a difference and worth the trouble.)

I made a script 2 months ago and it was approved in Code Canyon. I spent around 40 hours on code/documentation for it. It finally got priced $8. Didn’t matter for me. I think it’s not bad. My chunk will be $3.2. I was surprised I get only $2.4 (because most of the buyers pay with pre-loaded balance).

But the matter isn’t their, after 2 months or even more, I only made $29.6. In term of clients, they were kind. I answered all questions and will answer; however, I’ll never work out a custom feature without getting paid for it. I’ll consider features client”s” ask for and may add them in the next iteration.

For me, as a product seller, I’m responsible only for bugs. If the client didn’t figure out how to install a script, I’ll re-check my documentation and may be add clarification. As someone who is working to scale sales + products, it’ll be more precise to focus on a cleaner and extensive documentation rather than a 24/7 client support.

Bug support is a must. Buyers are not comfortable with a buggy product. Scripts should have a good documentation that explains how to install them. you are also committed to make setup of scripts easy; the more time you spend on customization and documentation, the less time you’ll spend fighting customers emails.

Plan a support time: I plan a support time. 1 hour per week per product. For example if I have 40 products in CodeCanyon, I’ll dedicate 40 hours for product support. However, product support should not conflict with customization. That being said, you’ll not reach 40 hours that quickly.

Finally, never reply to support by email; I ask buyers to post a comment. Like that if I’m offering a dedicated support, it can turn to the benefit of all the other buyers.

My webhosting (lacehost.com) got down for more than 1 week now, that really sucks, and the admin is not responding.

What hosting are you using (+ your feedback)?
