But I bought it for a customer and since I can’t buy my item from my account I have to buy it from another one (ridiculous, yes)

I could also just use my item without purchasing it but than I don’t get a license code (and break the rule of exclusive authors I think). Also it’s a purchase with a 70% discount so not that bad IMO.

I have done that, too, as it facilitates the process for clients who quickly want to have an item of mine. I know the process of registering an account, depositing and buying, so I do it. But just like you said, rating the competition’s item(s) badly is truly despicable.

It doesn’t really matter whether you doubt it or not. I, among many others, know that many authors do that, including a well-known one who even admitted to doing so.

I’ve seen a design of mine everywhere, and I only got asked twice. But hey, I get a lot of new visitors/viewers who might end up being followers, which I value more than just having a line of credit on the source-theme(s).
