This thing is lightning fast… and javascript… wow smooooth as silk.
this has a lot of potential and when developer plugins start to come out and a version for mac… i will be using it much more.
as far as having to test another browser… this is built on webkit… which is what safari uses i believe… so as long as ur site looks good in safari it should look good in this puppy.
lovin it so far! As long as it’s another threat to IE i am happy lol

there is a messaging system via the authors profile page and there is a comment system
if all else fails contact support. simple as that
i have a site with MediaTemple right now (creativebitts.com) and literally once a week it stops working for about 5 to 10 minutes. I have had at least 7 or 8 instances where there were server errors or database errors… that come up out of the blue
also regularly i notice HORRIBLY SLOOOW speeds… and some other tiny problems or hassles here and there
i will say their support is good cuz they usually respond quickly to support tickets and stuff…. but i get tired of having to talk to them every week.
i will never host with them again… at 20 bucks a month for constant contact with support for stupid problems… not worth it for me
it seems like they have some problem with their GridServer crap like every other day or something. its ridiculous
oh yeah and i have been with them like not even 3 months and i have had all these problems.
my personal site with bluehost = since 2003 and i dont even remember ever having a problem.
I’m suprised to hear you think (mt) is the worst…. I would like to know why. I have had (mt) for about a year, and love their service, prices, and I get a notification if they even think my service might get disrupted (which has only happened once, and (mt) gave me a month free). Plus I can add a bunch of emails and host like 100 different domain names. Seemed like a good deal for me. I dont get tons of traffic but I can host my clients projects and they ((mt)) are very friendly.
Yeah i have bluehost for my personal website. i LOVE them
I just asked the question because i just wonder if these hosting companies that offer all that bandwidth… just wondering if allll that bandwidth is really needed… and if any moderately successful websites use anywhere near that much monthly bandwidth
I would suggest checking out bluehost I have had an account with them for 2 years now, and I refer all of my clients to them as well.To try to guess how much you would need for a site that is compatible to FD would sort of be hard, especially if the site does not yet exist. But if you are trying to build a site that is a large community, that will have high traffic. I would suggest looking into mediatemple. They are top dogs right now when it comes to hosting larger sites. And if you call them, and tell them the type of site you are looking to create, and how large you expect it to be, they can help you in making the hosting options decision.
But if you are in need of a smaller site…with a lot of space check out bluehost! I pay 7 bucks a month…but I pay yearly rather than monthly…thats just what it breaks down to. But I get 1.5 Terabytes space, and 15 Tb bandwidth monthly. It didn’t start that high…it just slowly progressed to that. But whats nice is that if the plan gets upgraded…you call them up and will upgrade your account to be up to the new space plan. Which is something I never got at any other host.
Can someone help me out, I have googled but cant find anything good.
How much Monthly data transfer/bandwidth does a website REALLY need?
I dont mean a website like google, yahoo, or myspace….
but more like this website, flashden… or smashingmagazine, theFWA, etc.
I just see so many different hosting companies offer 15TB of bandwidth for cheap as hell prices others that are much more expensive offer 10gb bandwidth…
I mean i dont have a website anywhere near as successful as flashden or anything but i am still wondering what kind of monthly bandwidth a site like this uses…?
